Recap of February 2012 Lick Run Alternative Community Design Workshop #3

On February 23, 2012, MSD hosted its third of three community design workshops on the Lick Run Alternative project.
Nearly 100 people participated in the event, held at Orion Academy (charter school) in South Fairmount.
The workshop focused on reviewing and discussing a preliminary Lick Run Master Plan, which contained preliminary design concepts for the proposed urban waterway in South Fairmount and a long-term vision plan.
The preliminary design concepts and long-term vision plan will undergo additional refinements prior to integration into a preliminary Lick Run Master Plan that will be presented to the Hamilton County Commissioners in March 2012.
MSD is required to eliminate 2 billion gallons of combined sewer overflows (CSOs) from the Lower Mill Creek watershed by 2018 and has until December 2012 to submit its preferred solution (Lower Mill Creek Partial Remedy) to the U.S. EPA and other regulators.
The remedy may be a default solution (deep, underground storage tunnel and enhanced high-rate treatment facility) or an alternative solution. The alternative solution, which includes the Lick Run Alternative Project, seeks to control CSOs by reducing the amount of stormwater entering combined sewers.

Recap of October 2011 Lick Run Alternative Community Design Workshop #2

On October 26, 2011, MSD hosted its second of three community design workshops on the Lick Run Alternative project. More than 90 people participated in the event, held at Gilbert A. Dater Montessori (elementary school) in Westwood. The goal of the meeting was to continue to gather feedback from the community on the proposed Lick Run Alternative project.
The workshop focused on reviewing and discussing design concepts for the proposed urban waterway in South Fairmount and learning about watershed-wide opportunities.
MSD partnered with city and county agencies and local nonprofit organizations on the planning of this event.
A third workshop will be scheduled in early 2012. The information gathered from all three workshops will be used to develop a Lick Run Master Plan. We welcome and encourage public input at all stages.

Recap of August 2011 Lick Run Alternative Community Design Workshop #1
On August 11, 2011, MSD hosted its first of three community design workshops on the Lick Run Alternative project. More than 115 people participated in the event, held at Roberts Paideia Academy, 1702 Grand Avenue (45214). The goal of the meeting was to gather feedback from the community on the proposed Lick Run project. The focus was on four breakout sessions, which covered the following topics:
- The Open Space Corridor (focusing on the proposed stormwater conveyance corridor in South Fairmount)
- The Community Core (focusing on the South Fairmount business district)
- The Historic Fabric (focusing on historical and cultural resources in the community)
- Hillsides and Ridgetop Neighborhoods (focusing on the Lick Run Watershed).
Input was gathered through visual preference surveys and written surveys designed to gauge community preferences and priorities for proposed solutions in the watershed.
MSD partnered with city and county agencies and local nonprofit organizations on the planning of this event.
The information gathered at the workshop will help guide two additional Community Design Workshops, the second scheduled for October 27, 2011 at Roberts Paideia Academy and the third anticipated in February 2012. The results of the three workshops will be used to prepare a Lick Run Master Plan.
