Bloody Run Project
The Bloody Run watershed covers more than 2,200 acres in central Hamilton County and includes portions of Amberley Village, Columbia Township, Village of Golf Manor, the City of Norwood and three Cincinnati neighborhoods: Bond Hill, Pleasant Ridge, and Roselawn.
The watershed was named after the historic Bloody Run Creek that once flowed through it to the Mill Creek. The creek was ultimately piped underground into a combined sewer system that collects sewage and stormwater flows from the watershed.
During dry weather, the flows are treated at the Mill Creek Wastewater Treatment plant in Lower Price Hill.
During rains, the sewer system can overflow at the CSO 181 outfall into a channel (known as the Bloody Run Channel) that discharges to the Mill Creek.
Every year, about 600 million gallons of raw sewage – mixed with stormwater and natural drainage – overflow into the Mill Creek.
